Risk assessments

What are the health risks to which a building’s users are exposed, if an asbestos inventory shows that the building contains asbestos? Only a risk assessment can provide the definite answer. That’s why clients have a risk assessment drawn up for renovation projects which don’t involve demolition work. In these cases it’s not compulsory to remove materials containing asbestos. But if the asbestos does present a risk, this is the right moment to take action. The risk assessment indicates how necessary and urgent the measures are, which have to be taken.

Mapping exposure risks

To map present and future exposure risks, DTA-certified (expert supervisor asbestos removal) inspectors take air and dust samples to have them analysed in our in-house accredited laboratories. Of course, Search uses the nationally recognised NEN 2991 standard for all risk assessments. Our consultants translate the investigation results into a clear report with practical advice and recommendations. These include the concrete measures which may have to be taken if a high exposure risk has been established. They can also draw up a containment plan, which may include measures limiting the use of the building.
