Training Basic Safety
The Health and Safety at Work (HSW) legislation obliges employers and employees to pay attention to safety, health and the environment during work. Employers should offer their employees and management the proper safety training to ensure healthy and safe working conditions. Two training courses have been developed within the framework of safety at work: a basic contractor safety training course (VCA-Basic) and a contractor safety training for operative management (VCA-VOL). Originally, these training courses have been developed as a minimal basis in the framework of VCA-certification for companies. By now the training courses have evolved to such an extent, that even non-certified companies frequently use (part of) the training courses to train their employees effectively within the framework of their HSW-obligations. Of course, the training courses are based on the new VCA attainment levels for 2004.
‘Safety is all in the mind’ is a popular expression. Good safety management starts with raising the awareness: everybody must be convinced of its importance. That’s why the Training Basic training concentrates on raising safety awareness. Wearing a helmet and basic personal protection is a good start. But there is much more to it. Changing employees’ behaviour for instance, to teach operators the correct posture during work. The two-day training has clear learning objectives: during the course, students internalise safety attitudes and the basic concepts of safety management. Of course, the two-day course can also be organised during the evenings and/or the weekend.
Apart from the group training, Training Basic Safety and Training Safety for operational managers, Search also offers these courses in a digital form (e-learning). This teaching method allows students to complete the safety course in their own time and at their own pace. Students round off the Training Basic Safety by taking a nationally recognised exam. If the student passed his exam, he will receive the nationally recognised personal certificate, which is valid for ten years.
